Mahogany Elephant Side Table with Gold Character Inscriptions

Cast in a deep, high-gloss mahogany finish, this elephant figure carries a round display platform on its back, its rim inscribed with rows of gold auspicious characters and framed by delicate scrollwork banding. Across the elephant's flank, a gold panel repeats similar symbolic characters and small floral accents, bordered by a Greek-key trim and a fringe of tasseled drops that hang along its side like traditional ceremonial trappings. The reddish-brown glaze catches the light warmly across the trunk, ears, and legs, giving the piece a rich, lacquered depth reminiscent of classic Chinese decorative furniture. Sturdy enough to function as a side table or plant stand as well as a standalone sculpture, it brings both utility and symbolism to a living room, entryway, or patio corner. In Chinese and Feng Shui tradition, elephants are seen as protectors and bringers of strength and good fortune, and the gold characters etched across this piece typically represent blessings such as prosperity and longevity — a fitting message for a piece meant to anchor a room.
